Oftentimes considered a gem of the south and made famous by bloggers such as Gal Meets Glam influencer, Julia Engel, Charleston is one of the most picturesque and charming cities in the continental United States. Known for its preppy style, endless shopping, and colorful buildings, this city needs to be next on your bucket list.

Recently, I visited my longtime college best friend, Ivy, and was so excited for the opportunity to see Charleston. This was a city that I’ve day dreamed of for years, and I found myself completely swept off my feet from the moment I stepped out of the car.

As you wander through its streets, you too will fall passionately in love with Charleston.

Wander into the College of Charleston’s campus and you too will see why it’s frequently voted one of the most beautiful college campuses in America. Envy the students as you watch them walk to classes held in small historic homes rather than large university buildings.

Peek your head around corners that dip into charming alleyways. Encounter artifacts of American history that you won’t find in the best researched books.

Recently featured as one of my top 5 picks for a fall weekend getaway, Charleston is a great destination for travelers seeking a haunted twist to their vacation. Those charming and mysterious tomb stones that you’ll find scattered between the pastel painted homes set the perfect scene for a ghost tour.

wander through the picturesque alleyways and smell fresh food and spices as you pass restaurants worthy of their Michelin stars.

Even if you don’t consider yourself a “foodie,” you’ll enjoy the opportunity to dine in a wide variety of restaurants. Enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail on an outdoor porch as you inhale the humid South Carolina air. Bask in your environment as you enjoy captivating conversation.

Allow yourself to become captivated by the people, the culture, and the sea salt filled air. Charleston is one of the most charming and pristine historic towns in America.
